I was in hopes yesterdays post wou’d
have brought me a Letter from my Dearest
Judy, & inform’d me of her Welfare, the continu=
=ance of wch is my sincerest Wish, indeed my Dearest
Life I know no Joy equal to you, thy continual
Goodness to me I esteem as no common {^blessing}
I can never, wth reason, repine at the late ill
news I receiv’d, when I consider how great and
valuable a treasure I possess in my own Judith.
Your Company is much wish’t for at Ethrope,
Sir Will: has had a great inclination to send
his Equipage for you, but as I thought it was not
agreable to yr inclinations, I desird him to desist,
the Post stays for me I am yrs entirely & sincerely

Martin Madan to Judith Madan, 6 July 1727
Madan had hoped that the post would have brought news of Judith’s good health – her continued welfare is his greatest desire. He cannot even be sad about bad news he has received, because he has Judith in his life. They greatly miss Judith and wish for her company.
