My Dearest Ju. how can you imagine my
Soul can ever cease to sympathize wth yours?
dont suppose I parted fromwth you with pleasure
it was with reluctance I quitted the arms of my
only Charmer, nor shall I ever know happyness
‘till I return to my all, to my Dearest angel –
How many Worlds woud Ixxx give to change my
Situation, & be blest wth hearing thy dear Voice
I must say wth Castalio
When thou’st from me every Place is dearst
I sent this Day to the Post, but no Letter is to
be found, it is certainly miscarried, I’m sure you
Never let slip a Post wthout thinking of me, thou
inspirer of all my happiness continue to Love me,
it will be but gratitude in you, it is not to be
thought how sincerely I am yours in every respect
The Post is just going out, adieu yrs Entirely

Martin Madan to Judith Madan, 13 September 1724
Martin assures Judith that he left her with the greatest reluctance, that his soul is continually connected to hers, and he struggles greatly to leave her arms. He will never feel happiness until they are reunited, and hopes to hear her voice soon.
