I am very glad to hear my Dr Mrs Hare got safe
to Cowley and think you very polite indeed for expressing any Obligation due to
me for spending so dull a week and hope youl now accept my Thanks for the
favor of your good Company – Molly informs me you left a single Muslin hander=
=chief here, we have made diligent search for it without success, but hope when the
Clouths are washd next week we shall find it, if you have not packt it up with
Your own Cloaths – I am much Obliged to you for the Tea and the appearance
Of it bespeaks it so good that if I am not too troublesome shoud be glad to receive
one pound of it, at 11,6, which I will thankfully repay you for – I am very {?sensible}
for your favor, done me in your kind order of the patterns of silks – I was sorry
you left me yesterday as I had the unexpected pleasure of three of my Neighbours Company
that drank tea, and spent the evening, and as we were very cheerful and chatty it
would have a little made up for the dullness you had suffered – I hope you will
have a good journey to your Friends on Sunday, and pass your time with great
cheerfulness – My Arm was just dressd when I begun this scrawl and was
obliged to be touchd again with the {?precipstate} which makes it smart much, and I
hope will apologize for all imperfections in this hasty scrawl. I am dear Madm
your Obliged Friend
Chrisa Shuttleworth
Shoud you receive messuage from James
before you see him I shoud be obliged to you to inform him
I desire his Servant may bring my Tankard with him when he
returns here – I hope youl receive an Agreeable acct soon of Capn Hares Heath I assure
you it will give me pleasure to hear it

Christiana Shuttleworth to Ann Hare, undated
Apologising to Ann Hare for her boredom over the course of the last week at the Shuttleworth home, she has looked for Ann Hare's missing muslin handkerchief but has not been able to find it, she hopes it will be found when the washing is done, she is grateful for the tea and wishes to place an order for more, detailing the company that they have enjoyed since Ann left, and providing information on her arm, which has required dressing twice while she has been writing
