My Dear Daughter
We are favoured with Mr Smiths company
to Dine with us to Day was very Glad to see him &
much Pleased to hear you are so well in health & in
such good Spirits through Mercy we & all the Family,
at present enjoy the same excepting poor Jane Clegg
whose Arm is begun to be very bad again which renders
her incapable to doing any thing for her support –
how thankfull we should be even for our health &
the ues of our limbs but much more for the Precious
Gosple & the priviliges you & we are favoured with
O my Dear Bec: I pray & desire you would be very earnest
in Prayer that the Lord would give you Grace to make A
proper improvement of the means of Greace you are
favoured with, we enjoy many Distinguishing favours
which multituds are deprived off more deserving than [damaged]
O that we may from Heart felt gratitude be [damaged]
out what shall we Render to the Lord for all his benign [damaged]
your Father has sent you half A Guinea by Mr Smith
to Buy Cotton & little Necessarys would have you keep an
account of what you lay out, & now my Dear be shure you
behave well & be very Submissive & Teachable, & believe to be your
Affectionate Mother S: Clegg

Mr Smith has visited bringing news of Rebekah with him, all the family are well apart from Jane Clegg, meditating on the privilege of both good health and happiness, instructing her to be submissive and teachable at school
