Dear Brother
I have just got a letter for you
which from some motive or other appeared concealed
from one I found it on the paper drawer.
I dare say you found out before
you got to Runcorn that you had left the deed
in the counting house, I ran down with it
to the Packet, but it was got about 400 yard
from the {?pur/peer} so I was too late. I expected the
Counting house would be too hot to hold us
both when I came back, but I suppose you must
have it in Mancr for your carelessness
I remain yours very sincerely
Thos Bateman
I have not enclosed your
Letter as my Papa got it
