Mary Tooth to Mr Benson, 11 July 1817
Writing to correct a magazine article on her late friend, Mrs Fletcher, which mistakenly stated that she occasionally drank wine with water. The writer is at pains to stress that Mrs Fletcher only ever drank cold water 'fresh from the pump'. Some discussion of the moral and health implications of this.
