James Longsdon (snr) to James Longsdon (jnr), 12 September 1799
It is James Jr's thirteenth birthday, which his family are celebrating by eating plum pudding and drinking to his health and welfare. James Sr encourages his son to write to his younger siblings who remember him often, and to be 'good and worthy', inclining to the 'Love of Religion, Truth, Industry & Honour'.
