Manchester March 17 – 83
Tho my last bears a later date than my
Friends I doubt not but ye convenient opportunity by
Mr Williamson which I was sorry to pass unnoticed will
in your estimation be a sufficient reason without
any farther apology for ye liberty I have taken to
write unanswered – I had thought to have done it
before: being not without some anxiety for your
Mammas welfare; have often {^wondered} Mrs B was never
returned we did hear she had been poorly of a cold:
indeed in Manchester they have been universal
I think few have escaped them – We have been
very much engaged this last {^week} my Aunt & Uncle
Pearson from Bolton have been here & tomorrow I
expect one of my Cousins to make some stay I
shoud be glad of your Company ye ensuing Spring
but am apprehensive from ye increase in ye your
family it will {^be} an improbability. I am sorry
I have nothing to entertain you with relative
to our Friends in Manr if hearing of them being
in some measure favor’d with health will conduce

I am happy to inform {^you} yt in ye general they are
well: Mrs Whittenbury was at {^our} house on saturday
very well & in expectation yt Mrs B will not disappoint
her – Uncle & Aunt Richardson are gone into Derby=
=shire – she has been very poorly indeed we were fearful
she was dangerous but thro’ mercy she is quite
recovered – Mrs Dinwiddie was at Shudehill return
her visit last week but one - & last we met at
my Aunt Spears with Mr Priestly who was as
droll as it is possible I coud have wished you to
have been there Mrs D is a very agreeable woman
indeed – she is quite big - & Mrs W D was brought
to bed some weeks ago – I saw Lucy B yesterday
we walked to meetg together she is very well &
looks much better than I have seen her this long
time – I think by this time {^you will say} Becky has got
a diversity of subjects she ventures at them being
agreeable” – however be that as it may time forbids
me enlarging – present our joint respects to Mr & Mrs H
Mrs B with Mr & Mrs Armitage &c &c accept of
love yourself & excuse faults. Upon revising ye above I
find great need of corrections which if you can read it
I hope will make with candor - & believe me to be
Your sincere tho absent
