Sir
I received yours this day, and return you
thanks for the high opinion you have of me, at the
same time you give me leave to assure you, I have at present
determined to remain perfectly free of an engagement.
the nature of which, is so very interesting to my future
happiness. The meetings you mention Believe
me, were entirely without my knowledge; and the
consequences of them distressing to me. I shall be
happy to retain the friendship you offer, but from
our short acquaintance, more you cannot expect
from me, I am Sir,
Your Obedient Humble Servant
