Revd Richard Cumberland to George Cumberland, 12 September 1778
The first half of the letter discusses business and land management, the second the health of several friends and family. They are afraid that the first drop in temperatures over winter will lead to Susan’s death. He hopes that her sister has no symptoms of decline, though she is distressed and fatigue. John is better, but they are worried about the great effect of the loss if his sister.
