Revd Richard Cumberland to George Cumberland, 20 April 1778
Richard’s pupils grow strong, eat and sleep well, and have good constitutions. He describes the dispositions of his pupils, including a reference to the temperament of 'the little West Indian' who is described as 'lively noisy and impatient' - the opposite to another pupil. Susan’s health is thought to be worse. Richard has entertained poor families for a ‘Farmers Feast’, and muses on the temperament of women and finding a suitable wife.
