Dear Geo:

After six Hours flouncing thro Rain Dirt
and Darkness I reached this place safe and sound
as when I left it, tho somewhat fatigued. My
Rosinante kept upon his Legs the whole Way /
and He has but two and a half / and never once
came down with me. I saved My Day light to
Barkway, where I stop't and drank Tea, in
Hopes of the two Adventurers overtaking Me,
but to no purpose, for they did not leave London
till two this Morn: and after sleeping 3 Hours
in a stable at Wares, got in just in Time for
the Hall, and are supposed to have lain in College
last Night. -- I hope you got to Town
without being attackd. / Tho not without {?appruch^m}
I dare to say / and that you had no need of [?Gouik]
or a Nap to shorten the Journey - For those
were the only Dangers you had to fear - for
Myself, I find the Jaunt has done me good and

supplied me with a fresh stock of Spirits, to get
which there is nothing like a good shaking now
and then. I must confess, the more I reflect upon
the unfortunate Peice of News, that we stumbled on
yesterday, the more sensible I am of the Disappoint
ment it has given to some of my most favorite
Schemes in Life. And the Loss I sustain from the
Bishops Death is only lessend, not removed, by
having the other Expectancy secured to me, however
wile endeavor to think no more of Juland, and
make the best of it - If you hear any per-
ticulars relating to the Bishops Death you will
much oblige me by sending them; with what
My Friends in Town say on the Occasion.
