Sir
I am quite ashamed I have not answered your letter sooner
but some friends coming from abroad have so taken up my thoughts
that I forgot it till I was too late both days for the post.
I beg the favour of you to advance what moneys has
been expended for the poor woman and certainly it is my wish
she sho’d have her allowance from last Micms what ever you think
right I shall at all times agree to. If we are so fortunate to escape
Doctors I shall make it do very well.
I am Sir
Your obliged hum’ble serv’t

Elizabeth Lister to [?Executors of Dr John Taylour’s will] 22 November 1799
Concerning the care and education of Ann Lynsdale, ward of Court of Chancery, allegedly illegitimate daughter of Dr John Taylour. She hopes that they will be able to advance some money to Ann Lynsdale’s mother. They hope to stay in good health and ‘escape doctors’.
