Dear Mother,
I recieved yours with the stockings this morning, both of which I thank you for, & the stockings fit me very well. I am much obliged to my Father for his endeavoring to get me a french book, & I hope he will succeed better in his jour-ney into Lancashire, we heartily wish him a happy return. we were glad to hear he ar-rived so well home from Nottingham.
I am afraid my shirts will not last me till Midsummer, if you could send me a couple of new ones I should do very well. William has receiv'd a pair of shoes from [?Pno] Gordon which fit him very well.
