Dear Miss Clegg/
I received yours of the 10th: Instant in
due time, and was rather Startled at the contents,
till I roused up my Sleeping memory ; and then I
readily called to mind that In[damaged] a Letter
from you to Miss [damaged] and [damaged] Father or
Mother, a small parcel of Mo[damaged] it up in
a paper for Mr: H—which [damaged] the
morning after I got home to [damaged] and I
believe that she forgot to make [damaged]orandom
of the reception, and so [damaged] went [damaged] her mind,
But Miss H—remembers it, and so I believe the
affair will be rectified.
I am glad to see in your letter, the Language of one in
the school of Christ: Dear Miss, we must become fools, that
we may come to Christ, the fountain of wisdom, to be
made wise unto Salvation – And one must see the
emptiness, and {?scarcity} of this world; before we can long
and desire after the better , the Heavenly country.
O! that the God of mercy and grace; would lift our
lazy feet , to some {?Pisgoh} of Gospel discovery, that we
might look over every intervening object, and see the
dear Lord Jesus, and the Heavenly inheritance; the,
O! Then would he appear; the chief amongst ten thousands, &
altogether lovely, and we like Moses, should in the ar=
=dency of our Spirits cry out , O Let me go over, and
see that good land, that goodly Mountain, and Spiritual Ca=
=nen in the promised land of eternal Glory – But that we

May love him, and long to see him, let us frequently think of what {?he}
Has done; is doing; and will do for those who love him – O! {?we}
{?Christians} of living water, flow from that Eternal work; unto {?the}
Poor, parched, helpless people in this world, and for their Comfort
He has declared that He will never leave them, till he has done
all that which he has spoken to them of – Mrs A joins
me in love, to Mr: & Mrs Clegg, and your Sister, which I beg you
will receive to yourself, from your much Obliged, and most un=
=worthy well wishes in the best bonds of
