In the evening of yesterday , after I
had sent off my letter to you , Gout appeared
again in the ankle bone of my right leg, which
has been for more than a month my well-leg ---
I am not in much pain , nor dog-lame , as I
can hobble about after a rate --- I am afraid
however, I must abandon all thoughts of attending
your election on thursday next – I cordially wish
your success – If you carry your point, write me a
line; but shou’d you fail, say nothing –
I am, Sir,
yours very sincerely ---
Giles Earle
Beningbrough Hall, June 14th 1803
P.S – Since writing the above, {?Sdd Cundall
has been with me, to show certain schedules he has
received, this day, relative to the supplementary
Invitation, which neither he nor I understand – I must
Therefore beg the favour of you to come here either
tomorrow, or, at latest, on Thursday afternoon ---
