Dear Sir.
I hope you recd my last dated the 6th March and the a Sorts of Melon Seeds, which I sent at ye same
Time under a separate Cover, together with {^the copy of a} Meml of the Field Offrs & Capt of ye late Marine Regts to
the Secry at War, whose answer I now enclose, and likewise {^the Copy of} a Second Meml or Letter, to which I don’t
find there is yet any Answer given {^tho I have thus long expected One} when I have it you shall.
All yor Friends at {?Alice’s/Alix’s} were well last Night, only poor Hammerly’s Death, which has long been
expected, happen;d the Wednesday before. Adml Boscowen sail’d the 25th from Spithead wth Eleven
Ships of the Line & a Tender, & is to be {^joyned} they say, by Five more from Plymouth. The Tryal of Mr
{?Lakeup} concerning Lottery Tickts {^to (formerly mentioned by me)} came on upon a Saturday last, and the Jury found him guilty, it’s said
of 6 points out of 10 which were brought against him. Judgment is to be given next {?Term}.
Last Night
depending the whole Session: It went in Favour of the New Interest, 228 against 98.

He hopes that John has received the melon seeds, informing him of the death of poor Hammersley which has been expected for some time, Admiral Boscowen has set sail and describing his fleet, describing a court case against Mr {?Lakeup} over some lottery tickets, sending his compliments to them
