Dear Sister
We are just come to Ashenhurst from Coleshill & have
had a {^good} journy
Sister would not have held out
home again but [illeg shorthand] hitherto; if you have occasion
to write to my Str. you, direct for her to [illeg shorthand] left [shorthand: {?at the}] angell
in Coleshill Warwickshire, she is at ye house of One
Mason in that Town, I have {^this [illeg shorthand]} had a [?Letter: shorthand] from [illeg shorthand: {?father}] wherein
he sais he [illeg shorthand] troubled wth [illeg shorthand] aking [illeg shorthand] Eye & a pain [illeg shorthand]
hips; Pray give Service to my BrotE & ye children & give
my BrotE many thanks for his horse I
carried [illeg shorthand] Journy. I wish you a happy – year & many &

Thomas Hollinshead to his Sister Stanley, 3 January 1708
Thomas did accompany their Sister Allen to Coleshill, though he was not sure she would make the journey. He has received a letter from their father reporting aching eyes and pain in the hips.
