Ashenhurst Saturday October ye 13th. 1705.
Dear Sister
I recd yEs. for wch. I thank you; I was in hopes of seeing you, before this.
I heard of yE being at Leeke on Wednesday last & wish I had known before you
would have been there, I should rejoyce Deare Sister in an extraordinary manner
if I might gi have given you notice of a time to come to Ashenhurst, but I must

tho’ it be ye greatest trouble to my self tell you yt as far as I can percieve
nothing but time will as yet work upon my FatE. I am under no small concern
to heare yt any one that can but be thought to understand it should incline
to believe my BrotE. Allen to be consumptive, but hope this but ye opinion
of some ignorant pE.tender pray give my service to him & tell him I desire
him to take care of himself, hoping to see you in a little time I conclude
Deare Sister yE most affectionate BrotE.

Thomas Hollinshead to his Sister Hampton, 13 October 1705

Thomas has a strong wish to see his sister at his home but their father will not permit it. He hopes that people are wrong that Mr Allen suffers from consumption and asks his sister to tell him to take care of himself.
