Dear Brother
I recieved yEs with ye greatest joy & satisfaction to hear of my Sisters
safe Delivery {^& yt she is well after it}; I pray God continue her Health; was troubled I could
not write you an answer to yEs of ye 28th of 10bE {^on Teusday last} but was unavoidably
hindred; I acquainted my Father with what you wrote, he told me
& bid me write to you yt his Resolution was yt I should not enter into
any Bond for him upon any Acct. of his; yt ‘twas what he had formerly
determined with himself, & not having heretofore broken over it was
altogether unwilling to do it now, not knowing where it might have an
End; will use my utmost indeavours in ye best manner I can to promote it to
yE Satisfaction, but am afraid I cannot do it as I hoped; + Will give ye Shilling
you Sent to W. Bennison, am sorry you put yeself to so much trouble for him.
+ am much concerned for yE being troubled with a sore Eye, should be
glad to heare of yE recovery from it; Pray present our Services to my
Aunt Birtles & Cousins if with you {^& Tomy & Will & Nancy} I am Sr

Thomas Hollinshead to his brother-in-law Mr Stanley, 8 January 1704
Thomas is happy to hear that his sister Stanley has given birth and is well; he hopes God will preserve her good health. He reports to his brother-in-law on his father’s reticence about settling some financial matters concerning his brother-in-law. He is sorry to hear his brother-in-law suffers from a sore eye and wants to hear that he is recovered soon.
