My Dearest Life
I was in hopes Thomas wou’d have brought
me some kind mark of yr remembrance, but I find you insist too
much upon Punctilies to let me have Two Letters for one, I shou’d
have made you my debtor had I not waited for an order of march
which we were in daily expectation of & yesterday a Letter came
from the secretary of war to let us know the king design’d our
stay in Kent somewt longer, but that we might enlarge our
Quarters if we pleas’d. for which purpose Bland has writ to
have
march next Thursday of Friday, if our request is granted, then
I intend making a Trip to you for a few days. It is impossible
to tell you my Dearest Soul what inward Joys I feel, on the
least hopes, of returning to yr arms, how many Thousand kisses
have I in store for you? I’ll fly to thy dear
full of Love & extasy & there confess my unequall’d Passion
for thee oh! Judy wt words can say what I then shall feel?
My variety of Pleasure! my ever new Delight! continue to
Love me, & let me know wt return you’ll make in those
blest moments, let me have a letter dictated by yr soul
[f.127v]
be for once without reserve, remember it is to thy own Madan,
Dear Dearest Creature how can I leave so pleasing a subject
to talk dully of Business?
Thomas tells me the Boy wants a Livery, I thought I
had order’d one before I left Holliport, since I did not be pleas’d
to send for the Maidenhead Tayler & let him make one for him
of the same colour as the others, I know now wt to do abt
Oates 20s pr Gr is very dear, I wish you wou’d write to Coll Butler
for five Quarters & at the same time desire him to send to Brook
Street for Bottles to Bottle off the Pipe of Madiera, I believe it
will be necessary to send to Close to deliver them. I desire to
know how you have dispos’d of the Box & the three Barrels
of Shells. My Dear Judith give my Love to my Dear little
ones those dear Pledges of our mutual Passion. Adieu my own
Judy adieu I am eternally & entirely yours
M Madan
Pray my service to Mrs Battle
